The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its two-week warning strike.
ASUU National President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, announced the decision at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday. He said the suspension takes effect from midnight on October 22, 2025.
Piwuna said the union decided to suspend the strike following the progress made during talks with the federal government. However, he cautioned that ASUU would not hesitate to resume the action if the government fails to meet its demands within the next four weeks.
He reaffirmed the union’s commitment to defending the rights and welfare of university lecturers and ensuring the proper funding of Nigeria’s public universities.
