The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party in Kwara State has announced Engr. Kale Kawu as the party’s consensus candidate ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
The announcement followed what party leaders described as extensive consultations with key stakeholders and leading governorship aspirants within the party.
According to the statement, the decision was reached in the interest of party unity and electoral success ahead of the gubernatorial polls.
The party leadership also commended other aspirants who reportedly agreed to step down in support of the consensus arrangement, describing the move as a demonstration of sacrifice, unity, and commitment to the progress of the party and Kwara State.
The statement further expressed optimism that the spirit of cooperation among party members would strengthen the PDP’s chances in the election.
Party members, delegates, and supporters were also urged to conduct themselves peacefully and orderly during the governorship primaries scheduled to hold tomorrow.
