Former Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has denied an online publication that claimed he resigned from office because he “cannot stand and watch the US and Tinubu government bombing our brothers in the forest.” He described the report as false and aimed at damaging his reputation.
Badaru said the statement did not come from him or anyone authorized to speak for him. He said the publication was created to mislead the public and strain his relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said the reasons for his resignation were formally shared with the President and later released through conventional and social media. He said any claim suggesting a different motive was fabricated.
Badaru reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu and his support for the administration’s policies. He said he remained committed to Nigeria’s peace and security and to the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also restated his support for the All Progressives Congress as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
The statement was issued on December 3, 2025.
