Kwara Central Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Saliu Mustapha, has challenged Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate, to a public debate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mustapha issued the challenge at the official launch of the Otoge Progressives Rainbow Coalition and its declaration of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mustapha, Dr Kolo Baba Jiyah and other candidates. The event was held at AMBA Open Space on Audi Road, Fate, Ilorin.
Addressing the gathering, Mustapha said he was ready to debate AbdulRazaq before the people of Kwara Central and called on the governor to show that he was also prepared to defend his record and political position.
“If he’s bold enough, i challenge him to a debate for people of Kwara Central to see who’s ready, i won’t respond to his errands boys,” Mustapha said.
The challenge comes as political activity builds in Kwara ahead of the 2027 general elections. Mustapha is seeking the Kwara Central Senate seat, while AbdulRazaq has emerged as the APC candidate for the same constituency.
The Otoge Progressives Rainbow Coalition used the event to declare its support for Tinubu and the candidates it endorsed. The coalition also restated its commitment to its political platform ahead of the elections.
