The Kaduna State Government has closed 20 illegal Colleges of Health Sciences and private hospitals operating without approval across the state. The affected facilities were found in Chikun, Igabi, Kaduna North, and Kaduna South local government areas. The action followed inspections that showed the institutions failed to meet required regulatory and professional standards set for health training and service delivery.
The Commissioner for Health, Umma Kaltum-Ahmed, said the closures aim to protect public health and ensure that health workers receive proper training. She warned that unapproved institutions risk producing unqualified personnel who could endanger lives. She advised students and the public to confirm accreditation before seeking admission or care, noting that the exercise has the backing of Governor Uba Sani as part of wider health sector reforms.
