The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has dismissed a viral social media post claiming to show the number of candidates shortlisted per state for the final stage of its 2025 recruitment exercise.
In a public statement, the Service said the post did not originate from any official or authorised NCS communication channel and should be ignored. It warned applicants and the public against acting on unverified information that could mislead or exploit job seekers.
The NCS explained that the 2025 recruitment process began with an official advertisement published on December 27, 2024. It received 573,523 applications across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres. After a documentary screening, 286,697 candidates were shortlisted for the first phase of the Computer-Based Test (CBT), conducted in batches to ensure fairness and efficiency.
According to the statement, only successful candidates in the Superintendent Cadre advanced to the second phase of testing. This stage will take place at approved centres across the six geopolitical zones and will be organised by candidates’ states of origin.
The Service emphasised that all official updates about the recruitment are communicated directly to applicants through the NCS Recruitment Update Portal at updates.customs.gov.ng.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and fairness, the NCS said the ongoing recruitment exercise follows global best practices and upholds the principles of merit and Federal Character.
It urged applicants and the public to rely only on verified communication channels for accurate information and to avoid sharing unconfirmed social media content that may spread misinformation.
