The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of recruitment for its Short Service Combatant (SSC) Commission Course, offering qualified Nigerians the opportunity to serve in the Combat Arms and Combat Support Arms of the military.
According to the Army, the programme is open to Nigerian citizens by birth who are single and between the ages of 23 and 27. Applicants must hold a minimum of a Higher National Diploma (Lower Credit) or a First Degree (Second Class Lower Division) in Arts, Sciences, or Humanities.
Candidates are also required to be medically, mentally, and physically fit in line with Nigerian Army standards.
Applicants must present a valid birth certificate or age declaration, a certificate of state of origin, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, letters of attestation from former institutions, and a recent passport photograph.
Successful candidates will be commissioned as Second Lieutenants upon completion of the programme. The SSC commission runs for 15 years—10 years on the active list, renewable for an additional five years.
The course covers both Combat Arms such as Infantry and Armour Corps, and Combat Support Arms including Artillery, Engineers, Signals, and Intelligence Corps.
Interested applicants are to visit the Nigerian Army recruitment portal at recruitment.army.mil.ng to create an account, complete the application form, upload required documents, and submit their applications online.
The deadline for submission is November 12, 2025.
