The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gwanara Ward, Attairu Idris Opeyemi, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing concerns over leadership and direction within the ADC.
Opeyemi announced his decision on Saturday, saying what he described as deception and a lack of direction in the ADC influenced his decision to leave the party. His defection adds to recent political movements involving members of opposition parties in the area.
The former ADC chairman, who was also a former APC executive member, pledged his support for the PDP and promised to work for the party’s growth in Gwanara Ward and Kaiama Local Government Area.
His move may add to growing political discussions over leadership and the direction of opposition parties in the area, with some members choosing to seek new political platforms.
Further details are expected to emerge.
