The media office of former Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has dismissed comments made by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s aide, Mr. Sai Kai, linking Saraki to the 2018 Offa robbery, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement signed by Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, Press Officer on Local Matters to Saraki, the aide’s remark was described as “deceitful and filled with deliberate misinformation.” The statement said Saraki had been cleared of any connection to the robbery by the Federal Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) under the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
“If he had read the court’s position carefully, he would have discovered that Dr. Saraki was absolved of any wrongdoing,” the statement said. “Two separate letters from the DPP confirmed that he had no link with the unfortunate incident.”
The media office accused the Kwara State Government of using false narratives to distract from its alleged failure to tackle rising insecurity. It said bandit attacks in parts of Kwara North and South had displaced residents and worsened food shortages and unemployment.
“This tragic situation has led to overcrowding, food insecurity, and unemployment as people flee from their homes in search of safety,” it added.
According to the statement, insecurity had forced the relocation of the NYSC Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area, and the School of Health Technology, Oke-Ode, to Ilorin. It said the once “State of Harmony” had become a “State of Fear” under Governor Abdulrazaq, citing frequent kidnappings and violent attacks.
The office also criticised the government for shutting down the Kwara Garment Factory less than a year after its commissioning, following protests by workers over poor conditions and salary deductions. It accused the administration of prioritising “media propaganda over substance.”
On transparency, the statement alleged that the Abdulrazaq administration had failed to explain how it spent record federal allocations and internally generated revenue. It claimed contracts were awarded in secrecy and project costs inflated.
The media office further accused the governor’s allies of targeting the Saraki family out of “envy and bitterness,” noting that the late Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki earned the love of Kwarans through selfless service and inclusiveness.
It urged Governor Abdulrazaq to focus on governance, economic recovery, and public safety instead of “political distractions,” adding, “Kwarans are tired of excuses. They deserve responsible leadership, not propaganda.”
