Youths and residents of Lade and Dakani communities in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State have apprehended seven suspected bandits in separate incidents.
Local security sources said three of the suspects were caught while attempting to buy fuel in Lade, while four others were discovered hiding in the bush near Dakani with weapons concealed in a sack.
The suspects were later handed over to the Nigerian Army base in Patigi for further investigation.
Authorities praised the courage and vigilance of the local residents, noting that their swift action prevented a potential security threat in the area.
The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security, working in coordination with the Nigerian Army, the police, and local vigilante groups to protect communities across the state.
