Gunmen kidnapped a trader and former PDP ward chairman, Abubakar Sise, during an attack on his home in Boriya community, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Thursday.
Witnesses said the attackers entered the compound and fired shots into the air. One of Sise’s sons returned home as the gunmen arrived. Sources said the gunmen ordered him to call his father and open the door. The attackers took Sise and left other family members in the house.
Residents found spent and live bullets in the compound on Thursday morning. They said the attack lasted only a few minutes before the gunmen escaped.
The local vigilante team began a search soon after the incident. Community members said the group is combing nearby areas to track the kidnappers and find the victim.
This marks the second kidnapping in the area in two months. On September 17, a businessman was abducted from his home in Shiya, a nearby community.
As of the time of this report, Sise’s location was unknown.
