Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate, has urged members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention Entertainment and Welfare Committee to embrace fresh and innovative ideas that reflect the party’s renewed vision.
Speaking at the committee’s inaugural meeting ahead of the PDP National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Oyo State, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan—who chairs the committee—emphasized the need to reposition the party as a platform that appeals to young Nigerians.
She said this could be achieved by deliberately incorporating youth-driven perspectives through music, cultural displays, and other creative performances that highlight Nigeria’s diversity and talent.
“Beyond maintaining the traditional standards, there must be space for growth, innovation, and fresh participation. We must open the door to new ideas, new entrants, and a renewed vision for the party,” she said.
The senator noted that the Entertainment and Welfare Committee carries a dual responsibility: ensuring that delegates and guests are well entertained and that their welfare is adequately taken care of throughout the convention.
She called on members to make meaningful contributions that would showcase the best of Nigeria’s culture and creativity, adding that their work would play a key role in creating an inclusive and vibrant atmosphere for the event.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s appointment to chair the committee comes as the PDP intensifies preparations for its national convention, where major party decisions and leadership matters are expected to be addressed.
By promoting innovation and inclusivity, she said, the party can strengthen its connection with a new generation of Nigerians and position itself for greater relevance in the country’s political landscape.
